Meltemi (“the app”) provides live sea-condition scores for Greek beaches. This page explains what data the app uses and the limits of those scores.
No accounts, no personal data
Meltemi has no sign-up and no user accounts. We do not collect, store, or sell names, emails, or any personal profile. We do not run our own analytics database of you.
Location
If you tap “Near me”, the app asks your device for your location to sort beaches by distance. This happens on your device only — your coordinates are not sent to our servers or stored. You can use the entire app without granting location.
Where the data comes from
Sea and weather forecasts come from the free Open-MeteoAPI. Official bathing-water quality classifications come from the European Environment Agency’s EU bathing-water data and are updated once per season. Maps and directions open in third-party services (OpenStreetMap tiles, Google Maps).
Advertising
The Android app shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and process data including your device’s advertising identifier, as described in Google’s advertising policies. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings. Meltemi does not receive your personal identity from AdMob.
Important: what the score means
The Meltemi Score estimates visual sea clarity and calmness only, based on wind, waves and rainfall. It is a convenience estimate and may be wrong. It does notindicate microbiological water safety, official bathing-water suitability, or whether it is safe to swim. Always use your own judgement and follow local authorities, lifeguards, and flag warnings. Meltemi is provided “as is” with no warranty, and we are not liable for decisions made using it.
Children
Meltemi is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from them.
